SSI Scuba Diving Courses

Coco Diving Center is authorized SSI (Scuba School International). We offer a variety of SSI scuba diving courses.

SSI Open Water Diver Course:

Certification course for Open Water Diving course. We offer theory, pool training, and open water sessions in 4 days. (Resort course is normally 4 days.)

Becoming an SSI Open Water Diver is the best way to start your scuba adventure due to worldwide recognition!

With personalized training and taking enough time, we make sure you are truly comfortable under water with the skills and equipment you will use. In general, an Open Water Diver course consists of 3 parts: Theory, Pool Training and Open Water Sessions. We teach courses in English & Spanish.

Theory:

The SSI Training Materials and Online Training program are designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You can complete the academics online up to 4 chapters out of 6 when you sign up for SSI’s Online Training program, and then attend review sessions at Coco Diving Center. You may also contact us when you finished your 4 chapters and inform us your arrival date for us to be able to set up your course to finish the rest of 2 chapters to study before your arrival if you wish. Or you may study the remaining chapters after your arrival. Please be sure to download VPN App in case if you are using Apple device such as iPhone or iPad before coming to Cuba. The VPN App that we recommend is SuperVPN.

Pool Traning:

For your pool and open water training your instructor will fit you to your scuba equipment so you will become comfortable in your “second skin”.

Open Water Session:

You will complete at least 4 open water dives and have the chance to experience everything you learned in the pool hands-on. After successful completion of your open water training dives you will become a Certified Diver. The SSI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless.

With OWD certification, you may dive anywhere in the world up to 18m. After you accumulate your  diving experience, you may take Deep Diving specialty course to dive anywhere up to 40m.

Scuba Rangers

The SSI Scuba Rangers Program is a club that offers numerous diving activities for children ages 8 - 12. Safety is a top priority and Scuba Rangers programs are only taught by specially trained instructors in a pool, or under confined water conditions in a protected area up to a maximum depth of 5 meters. You will earn the Scuba Rangers recognition rating.

SSI Specialty Programs:

Whether you have SSI, PADI, or any other Open Water certificate from different scuba diving organization, you may take our world recognizable SSI specialty courses.

We offer: Boat Diving, Computer Diving, Deep Diving, Diver Stress & Rescue, Navigation Diving, Night & Limited Visibility Diving, Perfect Buoyancy, Search & Recovery, Wreck Diving courses. All those courses include 2 open water dives.

 

Diver Stress & Rescue (require valid First Aid & CPR certification from any organization prior to taking this program, i.e. SSI React Right, Red Cross). All those courses include 2 open water dives.

 

Equipment Techniques, Enriched Air Nitrox, Science of Diving courses. Those courses do not require open water session.

SSI Emergency Traning Programs:

 

React Right First Aid & CPR, and React Right Oxygen Provider

An indispensable tool for unexpected emergencies.

It is a SSI s Emergency Training Program. Learn the “How-To” of First Aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen administration in diving emergencies as well as emergency assessment, so that any emergency situation can be evaluated properly.

Enrolling a REACT RIGHT program will increase your diving safety and comfort significantly. Also, SSI and other training agencies require a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate as a prerequisite for the Diver Stress & Rescue certification.

Pathway to Scuba Diving Professional Courses:

Upon request, we offer Dive Guide, Assistant Instructor courses. You must pass Science of Diving & React Right courses prior to taking those courses.
